Grading

Your child's teachers will use many tools to check your child's progress. Teachers observe how their students are doing in class. They also use quizzes and formal tests throughout the year.

Three times a year, we mail report cards. They show whether your child exceeds, meets or is making progress toward learning standards, or if they need more help.

Report card dates for this year are:

  • First trimester: after Dec. 7
  • Second trimester: after March 23
  • Third trimester: after June 26

Grades

Grades reflect your child's performance based on what we teach each trimester.

You will see primary grades (K-3) in one of four levels:

4 — Exceeds expectations for the standard at this time
3 — Meets expectations for the standard at this time
2 — Approaching expectations for the standard at this time
1 — Developing toward the standard at this time

The intermediate grading scale has changed this year and gone back to traditional grades.  Please click on the link below to view the letter that was sent home earlier this year explaining the changes.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, talk with their teachers. They can suggest resources to strengthen skills at home, or tell you more about resources available at school.
